Jammu, Oct 2: Former MLC and chief Spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Ravinder Sharma has urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene for extending date for online registration of interested youth for Army recruitment rally, for candidates of six districts of Jammu province scheduled for December, at Rajouri, failing which thousands of youth would be deprived from taking part in this recruitment.
He also urged for a special requirement rally at Sunderbani for the youth of this entire border belt, which has not been held post nineties.
Seeking urgent intervention of the Lt Governor, in a letter, Sharma said that it would be great injustice to thousands of unemployed youth of far flung districts of Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur and Samba if they are not granted opportunity to seek online registration which is mandatory for taking part in the proposed recruitment rally from Dec 11to Dec 22 at ALG Rajouri.
He said that the the army authorities fixed April 21st 2020, as the last date for seeking online registration which is nothing less than a joke, as there was complete lockdown from, March 23 onwards and with restrictions on 4G, no online registration was possible.
The higher army authorities should not shut their eyes to the ground situations in Jammu and Kashmir and give fair chance to the eligible youth to compete for the requirements in the Army.
It is also unfortunate that the youth of six districts have been called by army at one place without realizing the hardships to be faced by these youth for boarding and lodging, travel and food etc without adequate facilities at such a place for other districts, as mostly the poor youth seek to compete for jobs in the Army and other such recruitments.
He said the recruitment should be held at Sunderbani for the border belt, as it has not happened since nineties. He regretted that army authorities are ignoring the genuine demands which is very unfortunate and youth would take to streets.
