A large number of dealers under the leadership of Prabh Dayal Sharma, president, Fair Price Dealers Association assembled outside the office of Director, FCS&CA Jitender Singh at Jammu at around 11 am today and started protest dharna. They are on protest since February 1st and have refused to lift ration quota of this month.
They were shouting slogans in support of their demands and also against the J&K Administration, Commissioner/ Secretary and Director concerned. Prabh Dayal and several other Association members addressed the gathering and criticized the authorities for their failure to clear their dues in respect of commission of ration sold during last ten months, carriage and loading- unloading charges besides rent of the private shops as being given in Kashmir division only, ignoring dealers of Jammu region. They demanded that commission and carriage charges be given every month out of the sales amount of the food stuff.
They were also demanding new rate of ( Rs 59/qtl) carriage charges per quintal within JMC limits as was approved by Govt Committee under DC Jammu during 2018, which was never given them so far. They also demanded that 10 kg packing of Atta bags supply should be started as it is popular demand of the consumers in Jammu city.
They claimed that dealers strike would be continued till their demands are addressed. The Association also flashed a memorandum to the Commissioner/ Secretary, FCS&CA today, projecting their demands.
Meanwhile, all the ration depots in Jammu city are lying closed and dry, as no dealer is lifting the food stuff and the people are forced to purchase Atta and rice from private shops. The senior officers have failed to resolve the issue.
