Ration dealers demand enhanced commission

JAMMU, Oct 1: The ration dealers today organised a dharna-cum protest demonstration in the premises of Director, CAPD in support of their demand of enhancing of their commission on sale, which was not revised after 2003.
Under the leadership of president, Fair Price Dealers’ Federation, Mohan Singh, about 350 dealers from all over the Jammu city participated in the dharna. The protestors raising slogans against the Government were demanding Government to increase their present commission of 5% to 10%.
Besides this, various other issues and demands were also highlighted by the speakers.
Raising the issue of untimely supply of ration to dealers by the department, Vaishno Dutt, said that the department takes 6 to 10 days in supplying ration to the dealers after depositing the cash. He demanded that the department should supply ration to the dealers’ shop within 24 to 48 hours after depositing the cash.
Other demands highlighted by the speakers included release of commission for the sale of migrant ration and sugar, which they didn’t get till date. The speakers appealed the Government to concede their demands within a month failing which they threatened to go on indefinite strike.
