SRINAGAR, Oct 1: Police today foiled a protest march of Jamiat Ahli Hadees leaders and activists towards Legislative Assembly carried out in support of setting up of the trans-world Muslim University in Kashmir.
This morning dozens of Jamiat leaders and activists assembled at the Press Enclave here and raised protest against the delay in setting up of the trans-world Muslim University. They raised slogans and asked the State Government to expedite the process of establishment of the university.
Jamiat Ahli Hadees President, Ghulam Rasool Malik and the Jamiat general secretary, Abdul Rehman Bhat while addressing the protesters said that the legislature should pass the Bill seeking establishment of the university. They said the university would help in spreading the higher education in the Kashmir valley like the other universities functioning in the valley.
The protesters plan to march Legislative Assembly complex was foiled by the police. The police personnel said that since the prohibitory orders are in place in the city the protest march may create law and order problem.
