Rathore Foundation conducts awareness program for women

JAMMU, May 18: Rathore Foundation in collaboration with JKWDC, organized an awareness campaign for women at Sohal, Akhnoor Road, here today.
Chairperson of the Foundation, Prof Indira Rathore, highlighted the importance of economic independence for women. About 100 women participated in the programme with great enthusiasm and interest.
Mr Ravi from JKWDC explained in detail about the loan facilities provided by the Corporation at a nominal interest of 5 to 6 percent for a period of five years to help women set up their own ventures.
About 12 women took the application forms to avail the loan. The highlight of the event was that the handicapped ladies showed more interest in starting their own ventures, particularly in toy making, stitching and embroidery.
Prof Rathore also spoke about the social evils prevalent in the society and need to sensitize the female folk. She laid emphasis on girl child education.
