Rape with minor cousin: accused denied bail

JAMMU, Apr 25: Judicial Magistrate Reasi Archna Charak today rejected the bail application of one Randhir Singh, who had allegedly raped his minor cousin.
After hearing Senior PO Anil Dev Singh Jamwal for the State whereas Advocate P D Singh for the accused person, Judicial Magistrate observed, “the accused despite being cousin brother of the prosecutrix committed rape on her several times. The gravity of the offence allegedly committed by the applicant is of such extent that it has spread insecurity in our own house”.
“The prosecutrix in result of repeated offences by the accused gave birth to a male child and after having given the birth to child, accused made every possible attempt to destroy the evidence”, the Court said, adding “there is widespread anguish among the people of the area over this shameful act”.
With these observations, Court rejected the bail application.
