JAMMU, Apr 1: Self styled social activist and rape accused, Choudhary Talib Hussain, who allegedly gave communal colour to the Rasana case, today joined People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in presence of the party president Mehbooba Mufti at Srinagar.
Talib Hussain was arrested for allegedly raping a woman in Samba district last year following a complaint lodged by the victim. In her written complaint, the woman had alleged that she was raped by Talib Hussain in Chadwa forest where she had gone for grazing cattle.
Talib Hussain had also been booked under the Arms Act and the case is still going on. In June last, Hussain’s estranged wife got a case registered against him for allegedly torturing her and demanding dowry. He was granted anticipatory bail by the J&K High Court in the case.
Controversial Talib Hussain shot into prominence after he projected himself at the forefront of a campaign to seek justice for an eight-year-old girl who was abducted, raped and murdered in Rasana of Kathua district in January last year. He allegedly gave communal colour to the incident, which triggered a sharp reaction in Jammu.
According to a handout, issued today by the PDP, Talib Hussain is an energetic and hardworking from the area who joined the party with an aim to serve people of the State. He will contribute immensely for the growth of the party in the area, the PDP handout added.
Meanwhile, senior political leader Fayaz Ahmad Dar from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district also joined PDP today with party president Mehbooba Mufti welcoming him into the party fold.
Dar had contested 2014 Assembly elections from Budgam as a candidate of PDF. While welcoming Dar into the party, Mehbooba said that his joining will further strengthen the party in Budgam and will make PDP a vibrant force in Central Kashmir once again.
