JAMMU, Apr 1: The protest by Erstwhile Doda Migrants Committee entered seventh consecutive day, here today.
A large number of Doda Migrants camping in Jammu, assembled in the premises of Relief Commissioner Office and raised slogans in favour of their demands under the banner of Erstwhile Doda Migrants Committee.
While speaking, President of the Committee Rakesh Sharma said that the Doda Migrants have decided to continue their protest till implementation of the Supreme Court and High Court orders to grant relief and other facilities to Doda migrants at par with Kashmiri migrants.
“The migrants from the trouble torn district Doda are suffering a lot since migration from their respective native localities in Doda due to the threats, killings and torture by the anti social elements in 1996”, Sharma added.
The Doda migrants are living in rented accommodations and paying rental charges is another burden on them, Sharma said, adding that non-implementation of the Supreme Court and High Court orders by the Relief Commissioner and State Administration is raising anguish among the Doda migrants.
“Despite all investigation reports of CID and other agencies, which authenticated the migration of the Doda migrants, the Relief Organization is not paying any heed to implement the Supreme Court and High Court orders so as to provide succor to the Doda migrants”, he added.
While reiterating their demands, Sharma demanded restoration of migrant status to Doda migrants, cash and relief including other facilities at par with Kashmiri migrants and implementation of Supreme Court and High Court orders.
“We will continue our protest till our demands are not redressed”, Sharma asserted.
