JAMMU, June 9: The employees of Ranjit Sagar Dam drawn from Kathua district assembled at Lakhanpur -the gateway of J&K and raised their silent protest here to get permission for frequent movement to dam to join their duties.
More than 500 employees held silent protest dharna. They were led by Thein Dam Employees Union, Chiarman , Natha Singh and Harbans Singh another leader. They asked the J&K and Punjab Government to allow their frequent movement to attend duty at RS Dam after declaration of unlock 1. They said that when Central Government asked the employees to join their duties, then why not they were allowed to join the duties as they will be treated as absent by the department otherwise.
They appealed both Governments to coordinate with each other to solve their grievances. They also approached to Deputy Commissioner, Pathankot and Deputy Commissioner Kathua to take up the matter on State level to frame a roadmap to allow the employees of dam belonging to J&K to make their safe entry and later allow them to return to their homes. Otherwise both the Governments are responsible for the loss suffered by the employees.
