JAMMU, Dec 27: Former Member Legislative Council (MLC) and senior BJP leader, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, visited Baghad Mandi, Trikuta Nagar in Gandhi Nagar Assembly segment to take stock of the damages occurred due to fire last night.
After inspecting the site, Randhawa while speaking to media said that the accidental fire has gutted almost all shops of the Baghad Mandi incurring huge loss to shopkeepers who are mostly outsiders. He said that the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained but the swift action of the local administration including Sub-Divisional Magistrate (South), SDPO East and SHO Trikuta Nagar is appreciable.
He said that these officials rushed to the spot immediately after getting the news of the fire and themselves supervised the fire dousing process by fire tenders. “Without their prompt action and supervision the fire could have spread to other areas also”, Randhawa added.
Randhawa also interacted with those having shops in Baghad Mandi and assured them that the administration led by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, is there to take care of them. He also urged upon the administration to compensate these poor people as they have lost their source of income.
