JAMMU, Sept 14: Member Legislative Council (MLC), Vikram Randhawa, today visited Transport Nagar, Narwal to take stock of the problems being faced by the shopkeepers and other stakeholders.
Randhawa alongwith Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority (JDA), Rajesh Shavan, inspected all the yards of the Transport Nagar, Narwal and came down heavily upon all the previous Governments for apathetic approach towards the transport hub of the city of temples.
During his visit to the Transport Nagar, Randhawa took serious note of the illegal encroachment especially by the outsiders–Rohingyas and Bangl-adeshis. He said that it is shocking that these outsiders have not only encroached upon the JDA land but has established their businesses illegally.
Randhawa also slammed the previous Governments for lack of basic amenities in Transport Nagar. He said it is a matter of shame that the business hub of the Jammu city sans proper roads, sanitation, drainage etc., where the Government is planning to shift inter-state bus terminal and people from other States will land here.
He directed the VC JDA to remove all the illegal encroachments within next couple of days. An ultimatum in this regard was issued to all the illegal encroachers to remove their encroachments within next two days and after that JDA will launch drive to clear Transport Nagar of encroachment.
While speaking with the President of the Transport Nagar Shopkeepers Association (TNSA), Sarabjeet Singh Bhola, Randhawa assured to chalk out a development plan for Transport Nagar once it is cleared of encroachment.
He said that all the roads which of the Transport Nagar which are in dilapidated condition will be macadamized and will ensure that all basic facilities like street lights, sanitation, proper drainage, electrification of all yards, etc will be done one modern lines.
Randhawa issued instructions to the JDA to prepare a detailed report of the development works that required to be done.
