Jammu, Jan 31: (MLC), Vikram Randhawa, today kick-started construction work of lane and drain at village Roi Morh, Rakh Gadigarh in Gandhi Nagar assembly segment.
Speaking on the occasion Randhawa said that it was a long pending demand of the local residents as the lane was never constructed after independence and the locals were facing many hardships particularly during rainy season. He said that the demand was brought to his notice few months back and the authorities were directed to prepare a detailed project report and the work on the lane and drain has finally started today.
Randhawa said that in the absence of lane and drain the water logged had contributed a lot in spreading many diseases like malaria, dengue etc. He said that the lane and drain would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 5 lakh which has been released from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
While deliberating Randhawa assured people that many other developmental projects for the area are in queue and all the demands of the people would be fulfilled in phased manner priority wise.
Others who were present on the occasion include Pt. Ashok Khajuria, Senior BJP leader, Vikas Sharma, Inder Sharma, Pitambar Lal, Vijay Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Girdhari Lal, Sanket Sharma, Paramjit Singh and Pushkar Sharma.
