NAGROTA, Sept 26: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today sought pro-active administrative response to accumulated problems confronted to the people, saying this has become imperative as Jammu and Kashmir was passing through a most difficult phase currently.
“The officials have an added responsibility to ensure mitigation of grievances, especially on account of utility services”, he said while addressing Public  Grievances Redressal Camp here, adding that residents of the constituency had many expectations which are required to satiated on immediate basis.
Rana, who represents the Constituency in Legislative Assembly, sought time bound completion of various schemes so that benefits accrue to the people without delay. He particularly sought focussed attention on rural development oriented projects and welfare schemes being executed under various centrally and state sponsored programmes. Lack of awareness deprives many eligible families of the benefits under the schemes designed for their welfare. “Therefore, alongside speedy completion and execution of the schemes, a massive awareness campaign should form part of people-friendly initiatives”, he observed.
Referring to various issues projected by the people with regard to development and functioning of various Governmental agencies, Rana sought synergised approach for having optimum results. He said the people of the Constituency have always rendered a helping hand and full cooperation in execution of welfare schemes and the administration too should respond by ensuring satiation of their urges and aspirations.
Giving an overview of the developmental scenario in Nagrota Assembly Constituency, he said he has constantly been pursuing each project with the concerned agencies as a representative of the area. He said though much has been done in the area yet much more is required to be achieved. “This will become possible with continued cooperation and feedback of the people”, he said, hoping that the administration too will realise its responsibilities towards overall development of the constituency.
On the occasion, the representatives of the area highlighted individual and collective issues pertaining to supply of power and drinking water especially and called for ensuring these as per schedule. They also sought immediate improvement of major and interior roads, pleading that these have developed pit-holes due to monsoon rains, making vehicular movement risky.
Rana urged the officers to initiate road development and upgradation programme immediately and focus on maintaining civic amenities and other utility services in the Constituency.
