NAGROTA, Sept 7: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana and Minister of State for Home and PWD, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo on Sunday visited flood hit areas of Jammu and took stock of relief and rescue measures being taken by the various Government agencies.
Having a detailed review of the steps taken for shifting the people of inundated areas to safer places, Mr Rana and Mr Kichloo sought immediate restoration of various utility services and de-watering in the inundated areas.
They urged the Divisional Administration to deploy adequate medical teams to the affected localities and also ensure health and hygiene of the areas where water level is receding. They got a detailed brief from the officers concerned about steps taken to provide much needed respite to the sufferers.
The two leaders also visited Bajalta and took stock of the restoration work on Jammu -Surinsar- Mansar Road. They also reviewed the work on making Jagti-Bamiyal road traffic worthy, which had suffered major damages due to torrential rains. They urged the executing agencies to put in place various essential services in the affected areas on urgent basis.
Referring to flood havoc across the State, Mr Rana expressed anguish and grief over loss of life and damage to property and the standing crops. He said the natural calamity has caused wide-spread disaster in most part of the state and the Omar led government is taking all measures to rescue the people and provide necessary assistance to them.
Mr Rana said that National Conference workers are assisting the people in distress in the entire Jammu province and hoped the situation to improve with improvement in the weather.
Mr Kichloo and the Provincial President conveyed their sympathies to those who have lost their dear ones and expressed solidarity with the flood sufferers.
Later, the two leaders also visited several inundated areas of the Jammu city and interacted with the people who have faced brunt of the gushing waters. They sought immediate dewatering in various localities and assured the people that every possible step will be taken to overcome the situation.
