MENDHAR, June 4: Member Legislative Assembly, Mendhar, Javed A Rana today called for restoration of defunct lift water supply schemes in the area on war footing saying that he alone can’t mitigate people’s problem of water crisis.
He was addressing a public gathering after inaugurating a road stretch between Ari Sarhoti to Kharkan which has been constructed from his CDF.
Rana said that majority of lift water schemes in Mendhar sub division are lying defunct with concerned department hardly paying any attention. “In present summer season, as of past years, natural water sources are drying up and tale of worries is that PHE lift schemes of water supply are already lying defunct,” he added.
He claimed of putting his tireless efforts in bringing some betterment in water supply network but added that he alone can’t do much as major role is to be played by concerned department and Government. “All the defunct water supply schemes (lift) should be restored on war footing and concerned minister should visit the area to take stock of situation,” he said.
The MLA also raised his demand of opening of Sub Division Offices of PHE and PDD in Mendhar sub division as the area is comprised of three tehsils having major population.
Earlier, locals raised the issue of a local school and informed the MLA that in Government Middle School Chouta Naka, strength of students is 350 but only six teachers are working there as five others have been attached by department while Government Primary School Navnia has only six students but four teachers are posted there, which shows ill-planned rationalization of staff.
On this, Rana assured that he will inquire the matter from officers of Education Department and will get it solved.
