NAGROTA, Nov 7: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today called for drastic shift in educational policy, saying personality and career developments need to get impetus to enable pass outs face the competitive world with much more confidence.
“Times have changed and so must change the approach towards academics”, Mr Rana said while interacting with teachers and students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School here this morning.
He said since technological advancement has narrowed down the generational gap, from about a decade earlier to almost a year now, the concept of teaching should also get equally a major rehash. “We have to move beyond class rooms and prepare students for bigger challenges”, he said while elaborating that alongside academics the young generation needs to be acquainted with latest techniques as per the needs of job market.
Mr Rana referred to the proposed formulation of educational policy by the Coalition Government and said being representative from Nagrota he too will like to offer his suggestions. “It has to be a societal effort to design the educational policy as per the needs of time”, he maintained.
He also stressed the need for training teachers keeping in view changing trends in the field of education. If educational standard is to be given further push, their training will assume more significance, he maintained. He also called for increased student-teacher-parental interactions and said this is imperative to bring about a health change in the development of a child from threshold.
While interacting with students, Mr Rana expressed happiness over girls excelling boys in various disciplines. “This is a welcome change which instills a sense of competition that is of paramount importance for academic development”, he added.
