NAGROTA, June 2: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today sought 70 per cent jobs for educated unemployed youth besides hundred per cent recruitment of skilled and unskilled workers of Jammu and Kashmir in the Central Government establishments operating in the State besides IIMs, IITs, para military and armed forces.
“J&K needs a special dispensation in view of job crunch”, Rana said while addressing workers at several places across Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
He said the special dispensation was imperative, as the eligible youth are generally ignored in various central services. In this context, he cited the discrimination being meted out to the local youth in IIT, RRL, BSNL Army Ammunition Depots in Jib Udhampur and Jandrah, Nagrota besides similar other organizations, notwithstanding the fact that they were primary stake-holders.
The Provincial President said the State has undergone a traumatic phase and limited opportunities available to educated unemployed youth, essentially due to absence of private sector and big business houses, have put a huge question mark on their careers. This deficiency can be overcome by evolving a mechanism to have special drives carried out, particularly for youth of the border areas in police, para-military forces and other central services.
While a substantial reservation can be thought over for the eligible youth in the Central Government organizations, banks, railways, a fool-proof strategy can be devised to ensure absorption of skilled, unskilled and relatively lesser qualified youth in the organizations like IITs, IIMs, railways etc. He said opening of avenues will greatly help in securing the careers of youth who feel pushed to the wall due to unemployment.
Rana reminded the Centre, especially the BJP leaders, of their promises made from time to time, to open up windows of opportunities for Jammu and Kashmir youth and said all this has proved hoax. He referred to the commitments made to border youth about their absorption in para-military forces by undertaking special drives and said nothing of the sort has happened during the past four years.
“Delay in fulfilling the commitments held out to Jammu and Kashmir youth can boomerang for the Centre”, he said and cautioned the BJP against testing the patience of the young people of the state, who too want to excel in their careers and support their families.
During public interaction, Rana was apprised of various issues, particularly on power and drinking water fronts. He lamented over the failure of the PDP-BJP Coalition Government in maintaining supply line as per schedule. He said extraordinary measures and exigency plans ought to have been made to ensure power and drinking water supply during the summer months but instead the people are being deprived of these essential services hugely. He expressed concern over erratic power supply and scarce water supply, hoping that these two areas will be taken care of by the insensitive Government.
