JAMMU, Sept 30: Cautioning against the machinations of peace inimical elements that never reconciled with the unique communal harmony of Jammu and Kashmir, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today said the State’s pluralistic ethos is under a grave threat , which has to be surmounted by preserving the time tested unity.
“Ironically, these elements were attempting to test people’s resilience by dividing them under the misconceived perception of being super nationalists”, Mr Rana said at an all faiths congregation at Jalalabad Sunjwan here, held to disseminate the State’s message of peace and tranquility to ensure harmonious growth of the society.
He said the attempts of redefining nationalism have potential to divide the society in bits and pieces, with element of hatred and mistrust taking over the time tested tranquility. “This is also against the tenets of Indian Constitution, the preamble of which makes India a democratic secular nation”, he said, adding those working against this fundamental truth were weakening the nation’s secular fabric.
Mr Rana said India has to grow as a vibrant secular nation and make its presence predominantly felt in the comity of nations. “Ours is not a closed society”, he said while enumerating the contribution of great national heroes irrespective of region, religion or caste, who made India proud by their selfless service.
“How can divisive forces even think of Jammu and Kashmir pursuing a communal agenda, as it stood a shinning example of amity during most horrendous period of the Partition”, he asked and counseled those trying to create wedge and ill-will between various segments of the society to desist from their vicious and sinister agenda. “They don’t know that under the garb of self-proclaimed patriotism, they were causing immense dent to national interest”, he said while urging the people to remain vigilant against their designs.
The Provincial President said inter-faith unity holds key to the progress of Jammu and Kashmir, as also the country, and those working against this principle were enemies of the people. “They may achieve short term gains by dividing the society but the harm caused to the overall psyche of the nation will be colossal”, he maintained.
He extended his full support to the mission and said that all the right thinking people will take this forward for making Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh a better place to live in.
The organizer of the event, President All India Backward Classes Union, Abdul Majeed Malik, dwelt on the mission saying the only agenda is to see the State shine as a single-entity and abode for all religions.
