JAMMU, May 31: While asserting that unemployment continues to be a biggest challenge for industrially underdeveloped State like Jammu and Kashmir, provincial president National Conference Jammu, Devender Singh Rana today sought continuity in the path breaking initiatives of promoting employability taken by Omar- led government to satiate the aspirations of the youth.
“Initiatives during the past six years had rekindled hope among youth as they were looking forward towards the opportunities ahead as a result of pragmatic schemes”, Mr Rana said while inaugurating a business enterprise established by a local unemployed youth, Parvez Ahmed here this afternoon.
In this context, the provincial president referred to SKEPWY and the Centrally assisted Udaan and Himayat programmes and said these brought cheer into the lives of unemployed educated youth. He stressed the need for implementing such youth oriented schemes with a sincerity of purpose to offset the challenges on employment front.
“Unemployment problem has to be tackled with compassion and care”, he said and lamented over the anti- youth policies being pursued by PDP-BJP dispensation by bringing visionless new recruitment policy.
Lauding the initiatives of enterprising youth in launching their own units, Mr Rana said this will give impetus to productivity and help generate employment. He said the current era belongs to those who carve out their way amid challenges.
He said un-employment and un-employability is a major challenge and to tackle this appropriate skill set is required in an enterprise.
“Like other parts of the country, the youth from J&K can also make a mark by taking up challenging positions in most competitive and lucrative sectors”, Mr Rana said, adding that NC led Government had devised a transparent mechanism in filling up vacancies in the Government departments but the PDP-BJP coalition seems hell bent to upset this mechanism. He said NC will fight politicization and commercialization of jobs with full might.
Mr Rana wished Mr Parvez the young entrepreneur a great success and hoped that his enterprise will generate employment for skilled and unskilled local youth.
