RAMNAGAR, Mar 17: Following initiation of enquiry into complaints against SDPO Ramnagar and re-instatement of the suspended cop as well as restoring duty of attached SPOs, people of Ramnagar today called off their two-day long indefinite shutdown against alleged Police nexus with bovine smugglers.

DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Sujit Kumar along with SSP Udhampur Sargun Shukla personally visited the agitating people and issued on the spot orders pacifying the protesters.
As per an order, issued by the DIG, a fact finding enquiry is initiated into various complaints against SDPO Ramnagar G R Bhardwaj. The enquiry has been entrusted to Addl SP Udhampur who shall submit his findings within a fortnight for further necessary action.
According to separate order, issued by SSP Sargun Shukla, SgCt Mohd Ashraf of Police Station Ramnagar, who was placed under suspension on March 11, is re-instated into service with immediate effect pending enquiry into his conduct.
He along with SPOs namely Amrik Singh, Chain Singh and Rattan Chand, presently attached with DPL Udhampur, shall report at Police Station Ramnagar forthwith, further reads the order.
Following announcement of these actions by the SSP in presence of DIG Sujit Kumar, protesting people of Ramnagar called off their indefinite shutdown, which was continuing since yesterday.
Call for bandh was given by Hindu Jagran Manch, Beopar Mandal and other socio-political organizations, which were up in arms against alleged nexus between bovine smugglers and some Police officers.
The protesting people were particularly annoyed over suspension of a cop and attachment of three SPO, who had successfully foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling in Ramnagar last week but instead of rewarding them, senior officers took action against these four besides ordering enquiry into their conduct.
The protest dharna was led by Som Raj Thappa, president of Hindu Jagran Manch. DDC Chairman, Udhampur, Lal Chand Bhagat, Vice-Chairperson Juhi Pathania, BDC Chairman Garhi, Aarti Sharma; DDC Ramnagar, Mool Raj, DDC Chenani, Rajesh Sharma, BDC Chairman Garhi, Aarti Sharma, Rajinder Sharma, Sachin Gupta, Rohti Sethi were among the prominent who took part in the protest dharna today.
