JAMMU, July 25: Interaction Forum Jammu Province (IFJP) after holding public consultations and interaction sessions in Kathua, Rajouri, Udhampur and Reasi districts held an interactive meet at Ramban.
Intellectuals of all sections and shades from all tehsils of the district participated. The session was presided over by Advocate A R Mushtaq whereas Ashok Sharma, ex-MLA/MLC and Advocate of J&K High Court was the chief guest.
The speakers stressed upon giving top priority to education sector in the district. They added that problems like drinking water scarcity, lack of road connectivity and shortage of opportunities existed despite three mega power projects going on in the district. They stressed upon the endeavours in terms of horticulture, medicinal cum economical utility plants and tourism in the area.
Capt Lalit Sharma, IFS, spelled out aims and objectives of Forum. Former Deputy Commissioner, B S Jamwal emphasized upon projecting problems logically supported with proper facts and figures.
Ashok Sharma Advocate said Ramban is the epicenter of secular harmony, peace and brotherhood and added that we should go to other areas exemplifying Ramban as secular area as per its track record. He observed that great personalities like D D Thakur and Sana-ullah Banihali are great sons of the soil. He said Forum would prepare a vision document for Jammu province.
In his presidential address, A R Mushtaq said wonders happen when intellectuals deliberate. He said the district is proud to have Mr T S Thakur as Chief Justice of India which proves that the land is intellectually fertile. He made special mention of Surni Kund and Sarva Dhar, which qualify Ramban for a pride place in world tourism map.
Bodh Raj Bandral conducted the proceedings of the programme while vote of thanks was extended by Parshotam Singh Raju.
