Ramadhan begins on Monday

Srinagar, June 28: The Ramadhan moon was not sighted in sub-continent today and the holy fasting month of Ramadhan will now begin from Monday (June 30).
No Ramadhan moon sighting was observed today in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh where the Ramadhan will start from Monday. During the month of Ramadhan Muslims will observe dawn to dusk fast and offer night prayers.
However, the countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and Jordan will start the fasting month from tomorrow (Sunday) as crescent was sighted in these countries today.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Governor NN Vohra today wished Holy Month of Ramadhan, to be harbinger of well-being, progress and prosperity for the mankind. They prayed for peace and development in the State and the Country.
“This is the opportunity for the subjects of Allah to re-dedicate themselves as his true faithful by observing fast, offering prayers till late night, extending compassion and kindness to people and showing highest degree of tolerance not only in respect of eating food and drinking water but by renunciation of all activities leading to sin and harming humanity”, said Chief Minister in his message.
