JAMMU, Jan 21: “Pataru Cheten Da”- a poetry book in Dogri, penned by well known Dogri poet Ram Sanyasi was released by Nami Dogri Sanstha, here today.
Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister was chief guest on the occasion whereas renowned singer of Jammu and Kashmir Prof Anupama Sharma presided over the function. D S Chouhan and Piyush Gupta, both Advocates of J&K High Court, were guests of honour and special guest of the function . The function was attended by prominent writers , artists and literature lovers .
Ashok Gupta, former Chief Editor of Academy of Art , Culture and Languages, read a detail paper on the poetry book and lauded the usage of rich Dogri vocabulary by Ram Sanyasi in his writings. The function was compeered by Yash Pal Yash, general secretary of NDS.
Ram Sanyasi is a renowned name among Dogri writers who has already contributed two books to the Dogri literatures. His poetry is mainly focussed on social and human issues . His poetry fountains love , positivity, social concerns, patriotism and love for mankind . Poet has remained associated with a pioneer Doorshan programme “Sohani Dharti” a farmers programme for more than fifteen years and is popular among farmer community .
Kavinder Gupta, in his address, said that new education policy emphasizes upon the local language which aims at strenghening the local languages and culture thereby strengthening our identity and unity in diversity concept.
Prof Anupama Sharma appealed to all Dogras to speak Dogri in their homes and social circle for creating mass pride and attracting our children towards rich Duggar history, culture and Dogri language.
On general request, she also sang a Dogri song of Ram Sanyasi which was earlier recorded on Radio cum Doordarshan in her melodious voice .
D S Chouhan said that Dogri is our identity and needs to be maintained at all costs. Advocate Harish Kaila, President NDS, reiterated the demand for a separate “Duggar Channel”.
