Rajput Sabha demands holiday on birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh

JAMMU, Aug 12: In a meeting here today Amar Kshatriya (Rajput) Sabha demanded declaration of Gazetted Holiday on the birth anniversary of last Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh.
The meeting which was chaired by Sabha President, Narayan Singh discussed the celebrations on occasion of birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji which falls on Sept 23.
Speakers in the meeting expressed resentment against the State Government for not declaring gazetted holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh though the Upper House of J&K Legislature has also passed a resolution for that.
Other demands raised in the meeting included installation of statue of Maharaja Gulab Singh Ji at Kunjwani Chowk, abrogation of Article 35-A of the constitution and protection of statue of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji Park at Jammu by avoiding the climbing of visitors with shoes on the statue for photography.
A resolution supporting these demands was also passed.
On this occasion a Youth Body of District Jammu (Rajput Sabha) was also formed with Sukhdev Slathia as its District President, Vikram Chib as senior Vice-President, Sandeep Manhas and Pawan Jamwal as Vice-Presidents, Narender Charak as General Secretary, Gourav Manhas as Chief Organiser and Jimmy Manhas as Secretary.
Many prominent members of the community also attended the meeting.
