RAJOURI, May 5: Rajouri -Thannamandi Road is lying in extremely miserable condition with huge pits and patholes all around the road on 20 kilometers road which has made the life of commuters a living hell causing enormous problems on daily basis.
Talking to media-persons here today, Tanveer Hussain Khan, Aslam Damal, Mushtaq Thakkar and Haji Hamid from Thannamandi area lambasted the authorities who have failed in developing this important road which links the historic Mughal Road. They said that on one hand the Government is talking about transparency and accountability but on the other hand, this Rajouri -Thanna Mandi Road has not been upgraded by authorities since 1970 which clearly shows the step motherly treatment with this area.
They alleged that authorities have only made false promises and never acted on the executing agencies.
Tanveer further said that District Development Commisioner vide his office letter no PS/ DDCR/ R&B/ 05/ 2019-20/ 356-57 dated 24.04.2019 directed GREF and R&B Department for immediate repair of this road but till date nothing happened on ground which shows the irresponsible and careless attitude of these departments.
The people from Thanna Mandi Sub Division of Rajouri have appealed the Governor Satya Pal Malik to intervene personally so that Rajouri- Thanna Mandi road could be improved/upgraded to double lane specifications (highway) because the opening of Mughal Road has increased the traffic influx and thus in the common interest of public, the road should be immediately developed on priority.
