CHENNAI:  Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth  has left for United States in the early hours of today for a routine medical check up.

The actor left for US after completing the talkie  portions of popular Director K Shankar’s ‘2.0’, a  sequel to his earlier hit ‘Enthiran’.

Sources close to the actor said ”he is hale and  hearty. It is a just follow-up medical check up. He  will be back in a couple of weeks as he has promised to be present in the 100th day celebrations of his recently released film ‘Kabali’.

It may be recalled Rajinikanth reportedly underwent treatment for certain kidney-related ailments in US in  June last year.

After spending a couple of months, he returned to Chennai to see his movie ‘Kabali’ run to packed houses.       After a few days of rest at his residence, he resumed  shooting for ‘2.0’ on the city outskirts.        A stunt sequence too was canned.

A couple of days ago, Rajinikanth along with his  daughter Aishwarya Dhanush visited Chief Minister  J Jayalalithaa at the Apollo hospital where she was  admitted since September 22 following fever and  dehydration.

The actor was present at an exclusive screening  of Sivakarthikeyan’s recent release ‘Remo’.        Meanwhile, grandiose plans were on to celebrate the 100-day run of Kabali in the first week of next month and Rajinikanth has assured the Producers  of the Film (V Creations)  that he would take part in  the celebrations.

Rajinikanth will also turn up at the mega teaser  launch event for ‘2.0’ planned in Mumbai in which  Bollywood celebrities were expected to  attend  in large numbers.
