Rajinder Gupta gets SKOCH-NeGD Digital India Champion Award

JAMMU, Dec 15:  In recognition to his outstanding and significant contributions towards enablement of e-governance during his posting as Passport Officer Jammu, Rajinder Kumar Gupta, presently SSP Railways Jammu, has been conferred with SKOCH-NeGD (National e-Governance Division) Digitial India Champion Award.
A total of 11 officers namely Bipul Pathak, Hem Raj Pakhroo, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Farooq Ahmad Wani, S J M Gillani, Dr Shafqat Majid Khan, Rajinder Kumar Gupta, Sheetal Nanda, Saugat Biswas, Deep Raj Kanethia and Rimpy Ohri from Jammu and Kashmir and large number of officers from other States had filed nominations for the award.
However, only Rajinder Kumar Gupta has been selected for the same considering his significant contributions towards enablement of e-governance. The award was conferred during a Digital India CIO Convention held at Constitution Club of India, New Delhi today.
The NeGD comes under Union Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
As Passport Officer Jammu, Rajinder Kumar Gupta changed the system so much so that for the first time Jammu Passport Office was awarded with “Passport Seva Puraskar”. After completing his training in Chief Information Officers (CIOs) Training Progra-mme, Rajinder Kumar Gupta prepared a project report regarding integration of police verification in J&K with Passport Seva Project and submitted the same to Ministry of External Affairs in a meeting held at Goa.
The project report was accepted and applauded by the committee. The same project report was later approved by the MEA, a part of which was implemented resulting in enhanced efficiency and increased productivity.
The other part of the report has also been approved by the MEA and is in the process of obtaining financial approval from the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
