SRINAGAR, May 12: In order to take a general review of the working of security wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar today convened a meeting of senior police officers at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here. The meeting discussed security of dignitaries and protected persons, besides administrative matters of the Wing.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Rajendra said that Security Wing of JKP is having a great responsibility of providing protection to the VIPs and protected persons. With the changing scenario in the State activities of the wing have spread over many fronts and the wing has been ensuring security of vital installations and delegations as well, said Mr. Rajendra.
The DGP, stressing for high standards of discipline at all levels, asked for strict adherence of security guidelines laid from time to time. He said that corrective measures should be taken to bring more efficiency in the performance of the personnel and ensure security of dignitaries and protected persons. Proper supervision and monitoring at higher level is also impetrative to achieve tangible results, he added.
Discussing the functioning of escorts, the DGP said that effective manpower and mobility is necessary to provide better services while protecting state functions and other installations. He said that security gadgets should be got inspected periodically and communication network established to keep the authorities informed on the situations. He said that the damaged vehicles should be got repaired to enhance the mobility facilities which would help to improve the performance.
Mr. Rajendra, expressing his satisfaction over the performance of Security Wing said that the security personnel are entrusted with hectic activities, who are engaged round the clock for the protection of dignitaries and other persons. He said that during summer activities of the Wing increases as many delegations from across the country visit the Valley, besides functions by different political and social organizations.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADGPs, SP Vaid and VK Singh, IGPs, AK Choudhary, SJM Gillani and Jagjit Kumar, AIGPs, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood and Tahir Sajjad, Sr. ADO (PHQ), BA Shah and other police officers.
