JAMMU, May 12: In connection with World Thalassemia Day, NSS unit of Model Institute of Engineering and Technology organized a voluntary blood donation camp in its premises with the collaboration of Department of Transfusion Medicine, SMGS Hospital Jammu and J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society, Jammu.
Around 30 voluntary female students donated blood, out of 110 blood donors, and were very happy and satisfied for contributing in this noble cause.
A team of doctors and paramedical staff, headed by Dr Rubina Kausar, Blood Transfusion officer SMGS, provided all medical help for the smooth and successful conduct of the cause.
Sudhir Sethi president of J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society and Dr Sanjeev Digra, Associate Prof Pediatrics SMGS Hospital, threw light on importance of blood donation and awareness on the same by the Society.
Prof S K Sharma, Principal and Prof Ankur Gupta, Joint Director, were also present on the occasion.
Amit Mehta, convener NSS unit, along with other members of NSS, Mohit Sharma, Rahul Mahajan, Raagav Bali, Shivam Vaid and Subham Sharma coordinated the event.
