JAMMU, May 31: Additional DGP Law and Order and Armed Police, K Rajendera Kumar today took over as interim DGP of the State from Kuldeep Khoda, who relinquished office on his retirement after serving nearly five years as the State police chief.
Mr Rajendera, the senior most IPS officer of 1984 batch in Jammu and Kashmir cadre, took the charge late this evening from Mr Khoda.
The State Cabinet had yesterday appointed Mr Rajendera as interim DGP pending formal appointment of Ashok Prasad, a 1979 batch IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre and presently Additional Director of Intelligence Bureau in Jammu and Kashmir as the DGP in place of Khoda.
Mr Rajendera had served as IGP Kashmir twice, IGP Jammu, IGP CID, IGP Headquarters, DIG Doda-Udhampur, Srinagar-Budgam and Rajouri-Poonch range, SSP Doda, SSP Srinagar and SP South Srinagar. All his postings were in the sensitive areas when the militancy was at its peak.
