SHIMLA, Sept 21:
Rainfall lashed many parts of Himachal Pradesh, bringing down the mercury by a few notches, Met office said here today.
Palampur in Kangra district had 45 mm rainfall followed by Baijnath which recorded 16 mm till 0830 hrs this morning.
Kalpa Regional headquarter of Kinnuar recorded 10 mm rainfall and this capital town received 5 mm.
The minimum temperature of tourist resort Manali, which was also lashed with rain, was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius, Shimla recorded 15.5 degrees and Dharamshala 20 degrees.
The report said rainfall was also experienced in Kullu, parts of Mandi, Solan and Sirmour districts however, it was mainly dry in Chamba.
Despite plunging down mercury in the state, there was no report of snowfall from higher reaches, the Met office said.
Kullu based District Information Offficer Sher Singh said that Manali-Leh, Manali-Kaza and other tribal roads were open for the vehicular traffic as the 13,050 ft high Rohtang Pass was yet to receive snowfall. The Met office said rainfall was likely to occur at many parts in the state during the next 24 hours. (UNI)
