JAMMU, Oct 26: A delegation of farmers, led by National Joint Coordinator of All India Kisan Congress, Bharat Priye met SDM Khour Anil Kumar Thakur and Tehsildar Pargwal, seeking release of compensation to the farmers of Chhamb constituency for the crop damaged due to rain and hailstorm.
While meeting with both the officials, Bharat Priye said that due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm in the border areas of Jammu, the crop has suffered heavy damage. “More than 90 percent of farmers’ crops have been destroyed. This crisis on the farmers has come at a time when they are already facing financial crunch,” he explained.
Bharat Priye stressed that the Government should release compensation to the farmers as soon as possible so that they can prepare for their next crop. He appealed to the Government that in view of the economic condition of the farmers, the compensation amount should be transferred to the account of the farmers after assessing the damaged crop.
