JAMMU, Sept 10: Railway Safety Commissioner (CRS) of Northern Railway, Dinesh Chandra Deswal, along with other senior officers, today conducted an intensive inspection of damaged railway bridges in Jammu Division.
Accompanied by Principal Executive Director (RDSO) S K Sapra, Chief Business Engineer R P Singh and Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar, the CRS conducted a thorough inspection of Railway Bridge No. 17 between Kathua to Madhopur, Railway Bridge No. 137 between Ghagwal and Hiranagar and Railway Bridge 232 on Chakki River between Pathankot Cantt and Kandrodi Block Section and other railway bridges.
The main objective of this inspection was to take stock of the damage caused due to heavy rains and floods and to ensure completion of the repair work soon so that the rail operation of Jammu Division can be fully restored.
The CRS issued necessary instructions to the concerned officers regarding completion of the repair work.
Pertinent to mention that due to heavy rains flood-like conditions, the operation of all trains running from Jammu Division had to be stopped as all the railway bridges from Jammu to Pathankot Cantt, numbering 17, 232, 137, were badly damaged. The repair work on these railway bridges is going on war footing.
