JAMMU, Jan 11: JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla today convened series of preparatory meeting ahead of Bharat Jodo Yatra in RS Pura Jammu South constituency.
Seeking huge response to Yatra, Bhalla said Bharat Jodo Yatra has ensured that the Congress is now setting the political narrative in the country and the BJP has been made to play on a pitch prepared by Congress. He said that Rahul Gandhi is trying to sharpen the ideological basis of the Congress.
“The Congress has been applauded, criticised, praised, reviled. What it means is that we were on the defensive, we were always reacting to what the BJP was saying or what it was doing but through the Bharat Jodo Yatra, I think we have succeeded to a very large extent in being able to set the terms of debate and the narrative in the political discourse,” Bhalla said.
He said the Yatra has had an “electrifying internal effect” on the organisation as well as on the external world of Indian politics. He claimed that due to the yatra, the BJP is on the “back foot, disturbed and nervous”.
Bhalla accused the BJP of resorting to disinformation and falsehood on the ‘Bharat JodoYatra’, and said it shows the “fear” and “frustration” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP leadership at the success of the Yatra. He alleged that this frustration is reflected in the actions and speeches of the BJP leadership in attacking Rahul Gandhi, who, he claimed, is getting a “good response” from the public during the yatra.
“There is a sense of fret and discomfort amongst the top cadre of the BJP with the love, affection and support that Rahul Gandhi is receiving from the people in his Bharat Jodo Yatra,” Bhalla said.
He further claimed that entire government machinery has been put up against one man trying to correct what the BJP government has destroyed in the last eight years. He alleged that when the BJP could not find a flaw against the intention and execution, senior leaders and cabinet ministers have “stooped as low as resorting to twisting facts and spreading blatant lies”. Alleging that some leaders have even let go of all ethical values, the Congress leader presented some instances where the “fret and discomfort” have brought about “some lies and degenerative comments” from the BJP leaders and ministers.
Bhalla said J&K has become a “testing laboratory of injudicious and ill-considered policies” of the Government of India and that on an everyday basis the administration was coming up with flawed orders and policies.
