The 10 KW FM transmitter with studio facility which is coming up at Malhar Udhampur will strengthen connectivity of this hilly area with rest of India. Udhampur division is a respository of rich cultural diversity. This diversity is under threat as it does not receive proper attention and publicity.
Radio can play important role in reviving this heritage. The artists and artistes can find encouragement and employment through this medium. Besides, what has remained untapped so far will come to surface for the benefit of society.
It was a long pending demand of the people of Udhampur and this has been met. However, it may be said here that it should not remain confined to stone laying foundation ceremony only, but should become a reality within a stipulated time. Many projects in the State have not come up after stone laying foundation ceremony. That is why apprehension lurks in the mind.
