Quenching children’s thirst for poetry

Geer Pataroo”, a collection of Dogri poetry, has been penned by a noted writer, P L Parihar. This poetry book has especially been designed and styled in simple easy to comprehend way for children.
This 175-page book containing  151 Geets in Dogri was released  at a well-attended function held on February 4, 2017 at KL Saigal  Hall in the J&K State Cultural Academy complex, Jammu. It was arranged by the Dogri Sanstha, a premier organization of the Dogri language and Duggar’s cultural heritage.
Mr Parihar has already composed a collection of Dogri poetry written for the children which has been well received by the readership. His present presentation poetic composition suits  well to the needs and taste of the children.
I liked particularly the stanza in one of the Geets  which  follows:
Badhlii Jabh bi taarein shandhi ae
Mann bimbli pondda  ae
Aap Moaarre Kushain
Gubbe geet phi chitle gandhe ae
( When high mountain are covered by cloud, every mind  gets over-powered  with songs of  excitement and joy)
Mark the simplicity of language, the theme and the subject which is close to   heart of teen-aged.
The book has educative and entertainment value and the readers  will find it interesting and informative. Writing literature for the children is a hard task as it to be tailored to the special needs, interest and psychological requirements. Mr Parihar has done a service to the society especially the children.
