REASI, May 23: Notwithstanding the Government directive to maintain proper standards at quarantine facilities, utter chaos prevailed at the quarantine centre established at Jawahar Navodya Vidalya, Kotli Manotrian, in Reasi district, where the inmates protested against lack of required facilities.
These people alleged that they were getting poor quality food and the facilities being provided were inadequate. “It’s better to remain hungry than eat the food being supplied here at the quarantine centre,” said one of the boy putting up there.

“We told field staff several times to provide us not good quality but at least quality food, but they are not taking our complaint seriously and hence we are left with no option other than to protest as officials virtually refused to offer better quality food despite repeated requests,” said another boy who is quarantined here.
Quarantined people also complained of unhygienic drinking water, dirty toilets and lack of basic amenities like proper sanitation etc.
Later on, SHO Reasi along with Nodal officer of the quarantine centre visited the centre and pacified the protestors with the assurance of supplying better quality food from next time.
