No doubt, being a good political leader one must be patriotic and have good leadership qualities. Today our country is facing burning challenges of poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, underdevelopment, backwardness, etc. The basic reason of all such problems is the evil of corruption prevalent in our country and it is because of this that political power is linked with the economic power. This is a bitter truth and the only solution to the problem is to elect leaders who are capable, well educated, and are passionate about improving the welfare of citizens. All the three afore mentioned qualities are necessary for the growth of the country. So, it is desirable that our MLAs/ MPs are well read so that they may have the ability to comprehend various socio-political issues. Sometimes, the debates in Parliament and various Legislative Assemblies’ need an enlightened and educated opinion but we have observed that derogatory/defamatory statements and illogical debates drift onto issues that have no relevance to the current topic. As a matter of fact, the general public, who himself has voted for such leaders has to bear consequences in the long run. Uneducated and corrupt leaders amass a lot of wealth and instead of working for the welfare of people, they work for their own welfare. Wasiq Malik M.Sc Zoology
