RBA status to another 66 villages

A good news for the residents of designated additional 66 villages and hamlets across Jammu and Kashmir is their inclusion in the list of Backward areas. The decision to this effect was recently taken by the State Administrative C uncil under chairmanship of the Governor. In simpler words, it means that the residents of the e villages could benefit from reservation. These 66 villages and hamlets comprise 24 from Jammu and 42 from Kashmir division and now the total number of villages in the Backward areas has crossed the figures of 2763. Among the 24 villages of Jammu division which have been identified and put in the RBA category, four are in Jammu district, six in Samba, seven in Ramban, four in Kathua and one each in Poonch, Rajouri and Doda districts. Likewise from Kashmir division, Kupwara, Anantnag, Baramulla, Pulwama, Kulgam, Budgam, Ganderbal, Shopian, Bandipora and Srinagar surveyed villages have een included in the list. It is interesting to note that this people friendly, those who rightfully deserved the benefits, related decision had to be taken by the Go ernor and the successiv State Governments did not find such measures worth taking or in their priority list while on the other hand, some leaders wish to cling to the formalities and the intricacies of technicalitie which looks unwarranted. The idea should be how people stood to be benefitted rather than why under Governor’s (or President’s) rule. Had such much required decisions been taken by the elected Governments in time, State Governor would have not to step in. Rather the functioning of the administration under Governor’s (or President’s) rule should be appreciated to the extent fast decisions were taken in he interests of the genera public.
