REASI, Oct 16:  After covering areas of  Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch districts, “Yuva Akrosh Yatra” of  Pradesh Youth Congress, against the  growing unemployment and anti-youth policies of State Govt, was taken out in Reasi and parts of Udhampur districts on fifth day today.
The PYC launched this mass contact programme to exert pressure on the Government to abolish the new recruitment  policy and adopt fair and merit based policy to recruit the youth. This Yatra is also aimed at expressing solidarity with the thousands of daily wagers and NYCs sitting on hunger strike across the State.
Senior IYC leader Dr  Uma Shankar Pandey, incharge J&K affairs of the PYC and State president of PYC Pranav Shagotra are leading this yatra. Former Minister and  senior Congress leader Jugal Kishore Sharma (MLC) also joined rally in Reasi today. Some senior PYC leaders Satish Sharma, Paramjit Singh, Rajvir Singh, Vinay Sharma and others were also accompanying. Hundreds of students and youth joined the Yatra at Katra and Udhampur and marched in the towns raising slogans against the BJP-PDP Government.
Senior Congress leader Jugal  Kishore Sharma addressed the Youth Congress activists at Katra. He criticized BJP-PDP Government for its anti-youth and anti-worker policies and said that many daily rated and other workers are on agitational path since long. This Govt has totally failed on all the fronts and is trying to divert public attention by raising controversies.
Pranav Shagotra, PYC chief said that, by introducing the latest Recruitment Policy 2015, under which one has to work for the first five years as a contractual employee on lesser wages, is a great injustice done to the educated youth of the State.  He said Govt should not play with the careers of the youth. He urged the Government for scraping of this draconian policy and added that “this is an anti-youth recruitment policy and a total deviation from the promises that were made by PDP and BJP leaders during their election campaign.
Speaking to the PYC activists, Dr Pandey lambasted the Govt for ignoring the youth of the State in the new system. He revealed that the present  BJP- PDP coalition has abandoned many important employment schemes introduced by the previous  Government.  This Government has disengaged the daily wagers and contractual workers and is not implementing the decisions of earlier regime. He urged the PYC activists to get united and not to stop till the Government agrees to the popular demands of the youth.
Tomorrow morning, the Yatra will proceed to Ramban and Doda districts.
