JAMMU, Feb 2: J&K Youth Congress today staged protest over Pegasus spyware issue here today.
On the directions of Uday Bhanu Chib, president J&K unit, the Youth Congress activists led by Happy Randhawa, president DYC Jammu Urban, assembled near Press Club and raised slogans against the BJP Government in the Centre.
Talking to reporters today, Happy Randhawa said, “The issue of spying through Pegasus is a very big one. It is not only about snooping; several other things are involved too.”
Youth Congress demanded an inquiry by a Supreme Court judge into the matter.
Randhawa questioned why such an inquiry had not been ordered by the Government as yet. He accused the Government of “treason” and compromising the national security.
“We have to reclaim the nation from this autocratic behaviour. Hacking into people’s phones and private lives, using that information for politics at tax payers’ expense is the greatest irony of our democracy”.
Randhawa demanded that the Centre must order an impartial investigation into the Pegasus spyware scam by a Supreme Court judge, who should be appointed with the consent of Opposition parties.
Among those who joined the protest included Sunny Jatt, Balram Langeh, Deep Singh, Ricky, Sourav, Jony, Vijay, Anmol, Ravi and Sahil Choudhary.
