JAMMU, June 25: Up in arms against enhanced duration of B Ed and M Ed Programmes from Jammu University but giving relaxation to Kashmir, activists of  Pradesh Youth Congress and the National Student’s Union of India (NSUI) held a joint protest demonstration, here today.
Shouting slogans against the Government and Jammu University, the protesting activists accused the  Coalition Government of  introducing discriminatory policies in Educational system.
The protest was led by Dr Uma Shankar Pandey, Incharge J&K, Pranav Shagotra,  PYC president, Neeraj Kundan,  president NSUI, Rajveer Singh, gen secy PYC, Satish Sharma,  Pankaj Basotra and others.
How the two sister  universities in a State having  same Chancellor, Prof-Chancellor and the same Department of Higher Education, can adopt different policies regarding the same course? they asked and alleged  that the Government is taking the system towards chaos.
The protesting NSUI and PYC activists alleged that the Government was  discriminating against Jammu public whether it was the issues of  education  or  AIIMS.  They also sought an answer from Deputy CM Nirmal Singh over the issue as he himself is a  professor of Jammu University.  Such discriminatory treatment have made the youth of Jammu in trouble at every step, they added.
The protesters warned that if the decision on enhanced duration of B Ed, M Ed programmes is not revoked immediately, the youth of Jammu would launch a vigorous agitation.
Prominent among those, who took part in the protest demonstration, included;  Paramjeet Singh, Charanjeet Cheeku, Rajan Sharma, Vijay Mangotra, Balbir Singh, Pankaj Sharma, Khushwant Singh, Ashwani Sharma, Sandeep Sharma, Hoshiar Singh, Nimrandeep Singh,  Nitin Bakshi, Chetan Wachoo, Sandeep Singh, Jagjoot , Anoop Gupta , Anirudh Khajuria, Bhanu Pratap, Sahil Choudhary and others.
