JAMMU, Dec 21: Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Minister for Public Works, Floriculture, Gardens & Parks, called on Governor N.N. Vohra, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
Mr. Bukhari informed the Governor about the to date status of important roads and bridges projects in the State. He also informed the Governor about the ongoing work in respect of certain roads in district Reasi which would link the upcoming Super Speciality Hospital at Kakryal with the rest of the Jammu region and with the Valley via the National Highway.
Stressing that road connectivity was the highest priority challenge for the development of the State, the Governor complimented Mr. Bukhari for visibly invigorating the functioning of the PW Department and hastening the process of repair and renovation of various important roads.
M.Y. Tarigami, MLA Kulgam also called on Governor.
Mr. Tarigami briefed the Governor about issues relating to the implementation of development programmes in district Kulgam, particularly the difficulties arising from deficiencies in the power distribution infrastructure.
The Governor appreciated Mr. Tarigami’s concerns and urged him to continue sustained efforts for promoting the development and the welfare of the people of his area.
G.H Mir, former Minister J&K, also called on the Governor.
Among other matters, Mr. Mir informed the Governor about his recent tours and meetings with people in the Valley and especially about issues relating to the problems faced by the youth.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. (Retd) Shiv Kumar Sharma, Member Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), who has been visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board’s facilities, informed the Governor about the extant standards of certain arrangements and his suggestions about the up gradation or enlargement of certain facilities.
Gen. Sharma had been earlier especially requested by the Governor to review the level of preparedness for disaster preparedness. He gave the Governor a report in this regard and informed that he had held a detailed discussion in regard to this matter with the Chief Executive Officer, A.K Sahu.
