POONCH, July 18: The District Administration Poonch today sealed the office functioning under the supervision of ARTO Poonch, for fixing High Security Registration Number Plates (HSRP) of the vehicles for charging extra amount from the people for fixation of number plates.
Official sources said that amid complaints of rampant overcharging by the vendors for HSRP (high security number plates), a raid on the office/ shop of the vendor at Poonch was conducted by Executive Magistrates/Naib Tehsildars Haveli and Khaneter on the directions of Tehsildar and the Deputy Commissioner Poonch.
Naib Tehsildar Haveli, Maroof Khan said that on reaching there, many people complained that the vendor was charging Rs 500-700 extra for affixing a number plate apart from the online payment made to the company Real Mazon India Limited (RM) while submitting documents in the office of ARTO. They further added that in this connection they had also informed the staff at ARTO office Poonch but no action was taken.
Khan said the statements made by the complainants were video-graphed by the raiding team. There after sensing a law and order problem and to avoid any nuisance, the shop was sealed. Further action is being recommended against the vendor to the District Magistrate and the Transport Commissioner, J&K.
Meanwhile, the Goa based company (RM India Ltd) head in the UT of J&K, in a written communicated to the District Administration Poonch has conveyed that if the person in Poonch has taken any extra amount from anyone, a strict punitive action is liable to be taken against him and company will remove him immediately from the duties assigned to him and strict action is being taken against him.
