JAMMU, Feb 21: An urgent meeting of all district heads of J&K Private Schools Association was organized here today by Deepak Handa (President Jammu Urban) under the chairmanship of Kamal Gupta, President JKPSA to take cognizance on the successive orders circulated by the Committee for Fixation & Regulation of Private Schools.
Members strongly condemned the alleged irrational attitude of the top most officers of School Education Department, Directorate of School Education and JKBOSE who allowed earlier order of Fee Fixation Committee rescinded and revoked, which was issued by the former Chairman FFC, Justice (Retd) Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain after proper consultation with all the stakeholders.
General Secretary of the Association, Ajay Gupta said that Chairperson FFRC has opened one more door for corruption. “On the one hand Government of India has approved investment package in UT of J &K with proposal to provide direct and indirect employment to around 5 lakh people and on the other hand, Government has no policy and framework for all those who are already self employed since long. By restricting the private schools to enhance fee after a gap of 2 years @ 6% after COVID- 19 will hamper the overall functioning and growth of all private unaided schools,” he said.
Kamal Gupta demanded immediate review and withdrawal of new orders and restoration of earlier order number 01 FFC of 2019 dated 28.01.2019 so that school management can pay increments to their teaching and non teaching staff members. He also demanded inclusion of opinion of all stakeholders while framing any policy regarding regulation of fee of private schools. He also demanded that before regulating/ fixing/ approving the fee structure, the Government must keep in mind the inflation and frequent change in price index.
The members unanimously demanded intervention of Lt Governor to save this venture from harassment and exploitation as private schools are the worst sufferers during pandemic period and even after unlock.
Those who spoke in the meeting, included Rameshwar Mengi (Vice President JKPSA), Sanjeev Luthra, Ajay Singh, Ram Parkash, Naresh Kumar, Lal Chand, Jatinder Heera, Ankush Verma and others.
