JAMMU, June 2: Former MLC and PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma has questioned the erratic system of charging huge amount as royalty over sand/ bajri/ stones by some private players without any uniform mode or norms in district Rajouri.
Sharma was apprised by the people and local contractors that they are being charged as huge royalty fee by the private contractors unauthorizedly, amounting to extortion since some high profile vested interests are in league with them, moreover G&M Department officials were maintaining criminal silence over the issue for the reason best known to them.
The people complained that even in some cases it amounts to double taxation and fleecing the common people. The administration has totally ignored the protests so far causing great resentment and confusion in the minds of the general public. He sought immediate intervention of the concerned authorities, to set the system right to save any undue exploitation of common people and to end the unrest amongst the people, on this account. The authorities must fully notify to the public the fixation of genuine rates as well as mode and manner of charging the same, after complying with all the requisites.
PCC has expressed grave concern over the continued attacks by the militants in Kashmir valley during the ongoing halt of operations by the forces announced by the Central Government during the month of Ramzan.
Meanwhile, PCC chief spokesperson strongly condemned the series of attacks by the militant groups in Kashmir and termed it very unfortunate. He said that the Army and security forces are facing a difficult situation, as they caught in devil and deep sea.
He lauded the forces for exercising maximum restraint while obeying the command of the Government during the Holy month of Ramzan but their sacrifices and hardship in this typical situation must be duly recorded and highly regarded. He criticized those vested political interests who fail to recognize the sacrifices of the forces and realize the most difficult situation for them and are solely targeting them to please certain radical sections.
