JAMMU, May 27: Pradesh Vishwakarma Shaba (PVS) today reiterated the demand of gazetted holiday on Vishwakarma Day and enhancement of reservation to OBCs from 2 % to 27 %.
The issues came up for discussion during a meeting of the Sabha held today at its Head Office, Vishwakarma Chowk, Gurha Morh Bakshi Nagar, Jammu under the chairmanship of Shashi Verma, president of the Sabha. Brig (Dr) Vijay Sagar Dheman was special invitee on the occasion.
During the meeting, all the members regretted that issue of enhancement of reservation from 2% to 27 % to OBCs in J&K is pending since 1993. It was resolved that the issue shall be taken up with PMO office through local Members of Parliament. All members also unanimously endorsed the demand of “gazetted holiday” on Vishwakarma Day”, which shall be taken up with State Administration.
It was unanimously resolved that that Pradesh Vishwakarma Sabha shall continue to honour/felicitate meritorious students as per past tradition. It was decided that those students who have scored above 75% marks (belonging to Urban) and above 70% (belonging to Rural) in 10th/12th/BSc or doing PG/PhD/pursuing professional courses etc will be honoured on September 15, 2019.
The meeting also resolved to avail free services of Brig (Dr) Vijay Sagar Dheman for career counselling and guidance of students who are preparing for NDA/SSB. All aspirants of defence services were told to contact Vishwakarma Sabha, Jammu for availing this facility.
Those who spoke on the occasion include Puran Chargotra (vice chairman), Subhash Verma, Sham Chargotra, Vinod Jaral, Balwant Kataria, Sukesh Verma, Karam Chand, Shamsher Singh Verma, Amarjeet Chargotra and Ramesh Angotra.
