JAMMU, Sept 9: Pushkar Amawasi was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety today by displaced Kashmiri Pandits from Budgam and Baramulla districts.
In this connection a religious get together was held in which the significance of the day was highlighted by the religious scholars.
The function was organized by Raj Nath Raina a social activist. It among others was addressed by T N Bhat, C L Garoo and Moti Lal Raina. They, while highlighting the significance of the day said a religious get together was being held every year on this day at ancient Pushkar Spring at Khag in Badgam district prior to mass exodus of Pandits from Valley and people from various parts of Valley used to visit there to pay obeisance and have holy dip in the spring whose description also lies in the Raj Tarangni an ancient book of Kashmir history.
The speakers however expressed concern over the encroachment of land of the shrine by the mafia groups and urged the Government to restore the same.
