SAMBA, Sept 9: Ghagwal police foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 12 bovines today.
According to reports a police party of Police Station, Ghagwal under the directives of SSP Samba, Dr Koshal Sharma and headed by SI, Bansi Lal, SHO Ghagwal under the close supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Hqrs Samba, during routine naka checking at NHW Tapyal, signaled a truck bearing Regd. No JK02AB/8179 to stop. The truck was coming from Kathua side. The driver on seeing the police party, accelerated the speed of the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot. But after successful chase by the Police, the truck was intercepted near NHW Ghagwal.
During the checking of the vehicle, 12 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle, which were being transported illegally. The accused driver namely Zaffer Iqbal, 23 S/o Salam Din, R/o Paroadi tehsil Budal, district Rajouri and his associate, Ali Mohd, S/o Noor Din, R/o Kot Chalwal, tehsil Bakori district Rajouri were arrested on spot and all the bovine animals were rescued.
In this regard a case FIR No. 117/2018 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started.
