Purnima chairs meeting of religious, tourism culture, heritage organisation

JAMMU, Aug 7: Deputy Mayor JMC also chief patron of J&K Religious, Tourism, Culture and Heritage organisation, Purnima Sharma today chaired a meeting of the organisation.
The meeting was held to promote religious tourism in J&K where Mahant Rajesh Bittu, another chief patron of the organisation was also present.
Speaking in the meeting Purnima Sharma said the way tourism in J&K should have to be promoted was not properly done by the past Governments.
She said, the largest religious place in Jammu province is Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra where more than 1 crore tourists visit every year.
Purnima further said that from Lakhanpur to Katra, there are many religious shrines en-route which have great historic values.
“In absence of promotion and development of such shrines, no tourist visits these places, which affects the local business of the area,” she maintained.
She further said that most of the business in J&K depends upon tourism. So in order to help the local businesses to flourish along with Dogra culture and heritage, we need to promote religious tourism by promoting all the religious places of Jammu province.
Mahant Rajesh Bittu also spoke on the occasion and discussed many things to save heritage and also to promote religious tourism.
A healthy discussion was held to take steps for promotion of religious tourism.
Those present in the meeting expressed hope that the Government may take some positive steps soon to promote religious places and religious tourism in J&K.
Kapil Verma, Parshottam Singh, Sarpanch; Kuldeep Singh, Devinder Singh Jasrotia, Manohar Lal Shastri, Yougal Kishore, Vijay, Nittin Choudhary, Anil Andotra, Kusum Indu and others were also present in the meeting.
